<Understanding Every Type of Clothing Fold>

  • Zigzag Fold

  • Half-lock Fold

  • Spiral Fold

  • Pipe Fold

  • Drop Fold

  • Diaper Fold

  • Compression Fold

I could realize that it is quite fundamental to understand the characteristic of something I want to draw exactly rather than I look at the picture of them and draw it. With the video above, I could understand the types of folds on clothing as the pose of human or the thickness or flexibility of clothings.

For drawing the wrinkles of Hanbok, I should understand how folds could be made via the video. First of all, the more flexible and lightweight the fabric, the more closely the folds of the garment will curve to the human shape. On the other hand, the stiffer and less bulky the clothing, the smaller the wrinkles will be and the less wrinkles will form in places other than the joints.

Because Hanbok is clothing that emphasizes activity, the fabric is light and not as flexible as silk, but it is clothing that wrinkles easily due to wind or movement.
